The Zurich Opera House was constructed in 1891 and has been the national venue for theatre, opera, and ballet ever since.
The Zurich Opera House located on the Sechsel_utenplatz today, has undergone various changes and additions since it’s inception back in 1891. The Bernhard Theatre was opened for plays and drama in 1941 and the opera house was further renovated in 1982. The opera house is not very large in size, with only 1100 seats inside. But it is still internationally acclaimed and also won the Best Opera Company of the Year in 2014. It is host to a huge number of performances every year, across varied genres as well.
Its program is exceedingly fluctuated, with 17 new creations and 26 restorations every year. Mainstream pieces, popular artists and in addition standard debuts, youngsters’ musical shows and expressive dance are altogether incorporated into the differed collection.
